Why having a vision is important in business and in life

A lot of early-stage business owners are so focused on getting in sales and making money, they overlook the fundamentals.

Now it's important especially in the early days to be focused on generating leads and making sales. Yet it's a very short term strategy.

Most people start off as employees, and then open a business after some years working for someone else. This means they're entering into business with the mindset of more work, equals more money.

So they get stuck in this perpetual cycle of doing more work, to earn more money. Yet although that cycle will help your business to initially take off, it's also the cycle that kills your business in the long term.

Now, this is where vision comes in.

Do you plan on just having a business to make $100k a year working as a sole trader doing 40 hours a week and being happy with that? If you do great, you probably don't need a vision.

But what if you have something burning inside of you that wants something bigger?

You want to employ a small team. You want to make sure that there's no income cap of what you can earn. You want to also not be required to turn up every single day to earn that money.

And I'm guessing you also want to experience a filling business and a filling life.

You cannot have this without a vision. Let me tell me why.

Your vision is your North Star

That is because the financial reward is only stimulating until we get to a position where we no longer are in 'survival mode'. Once we have enough money to live a better life and afford to pay for things without checking our bank account, money no longer has the stimulus to propel us forward.

Far more than money, a vision allows you to keep moving towards something that's like a fire burning inside of you.

You don't have to know what your vision is right now. It's something that evolves over a period of time. But right now, if anything was possible for you, what might that be like?

Let's transcend money and materialistic objects for a second.

If you could achieve anything, or work towards achieving a legacy, what would it be?

For us at The Game Changers it's to activate the truest potential of all beings and help them to live a life beyond their wildest dreams.

Chances are you see other people that are achieving the kind of success you want to achieve, or living the kind of lifestyle you want to live.

If you could achieve anything far beyond money and materialistic objects, what would that be? And for what purpose would you like that?

Everything in your business comes from your vision

Your vision is like the pinnacle from which everything else in your business falls under. Almost like Russian dolls, your vision, your mission, and your goals all nest together to feed the level above it, ultimately working towards the big Kahuna at the top of the pyramid - your vision.

And then your values are your compass that lets you know whether you're on course off-course for achieving your vision.

 Goals aren't enough

Goals alone won't get you where you want to go. They're not going to fulfill you the way that a vision will. They won't inspire you to keep going when the chips are down and you feel like giving up.

Sure, goals are certainly an important part of the puzzle. And you'll get a certain amount of joy when you buy that car, or get that shiny new premise of your business.

But I guarantee it won't feel as good as what you think. Many entrepreneurs confuse the fact that what they want is the outcome. Whereas what they realize later on is what they really want is a feeling of momentum

We all want the feeling of making a difference, the feeling of progress - that's what we actually secretly chase as entrepreneurs.

How often have you worked your backside off to get somewhere only to realize it doesn't quite feel the way you thought it would? We don't actually want 'things'. We want the feeling and experience behind attaining them.

That's what you're going to encapsulate in your vision. That's what is going to lead you through the darkest nights and the biggest storms and the craziest challenges.

Not accumulating stuff. Chasing that vision.

Over to you...
